2013 Comic Book Awards Pt 1: Best Characters

Best Female Lead (non superhero): Maxime Plouffe, Bandette created by Paul Tobin & Colleen Coover - Carefree and charming, this master thief has stolen my heart in addition to all the fine art that fills her home

Best Male Lead (non superhero): Death (East of West) created and written by Jonathan Hickman. 

Best Female Superhero: Wonder Woman as written by Brian Azzarello

Best Male Superhero: Thor as written by Jason Aaron

Best Super-team: New Avengers from Hickman & Epting

Best Comedic Relief: Bobby Drake, teenage Iceman as written by Brian Bendis in All-New X-Men/Uncanny X-Men - he always cracks me up

Best Supporting Character (Female): Martha ‘Em’ Cypress (Revival) created and written by Tim Seeley. While she’s part of an ensemble, the haunted, sad, scary and dead/alive Em is the series heart and soul 

Best Supporting Character (Male): War (Wonder Woman) as written by Brian Azzarello and designed by Cliff Chiang

Best Sidekick(s): Ayla and Nias - Red Sonja's twin bodyguards as written by Gail Simone 

Best Villain (Male): Gorr the God Butcher (Thor: God of Thunder) from Aaron and Ribic.

Best Villain (Female): Cerebella (Edison Rex) created by Roberson & Culver – She super cool looking, a brain in robot body. And while she’s currently allied with Rex, she's responsible for his bad fortune in days past, and might be planning more of the same for his future. 

Best Anti-Hero: Red Sonja, as written by Gail Simone

Best Child/Pre-Teen Character (Female): Maxine Baker (Animal Man) as written by Jeff Lemire (Honorable Mention: Jordan from Revival)

Best Child/Pre-Teen Character (Male): Damian Wayne created by Grant Morrison

Best Ensemble Cast: Wonder Woman, created/developed/designed by Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang and Tony Akins – From Lennox to Strife, Hera to Zola and Ares, Orion, Hephaestus, Hermes and on and on. They are distinct, colorful, and the rapport they share is second to none. 

Best Couple: Alec and Abigail (Swamp Thing)  if only for that beautiful 18th issue by Snyder & Paquette (Hon Mention: Arthur & Mera from Aquaman, Mary & Andrew from I, Vampire)

Best Performance by a Feline: Dex Starr, Red Lanterns (Hon Mention: Socks in Animal Man)

Best Performance by a Canine: Pizza Dog, Hawkeye
